iF Design Award 2024: Seven Miele appliances honoured with coveted design award

Gütersloh, May 16, 2024 No. 068/2024
  • Six hobs and a free-standing wine conditioning unit honoured

  • Twelve iF Design Awards in three years for Miele hobs confirm high standards of aesthetics and design

A total of seven Miele appliances received the prestigious iF Design Award this year. In addition to the KWT 4999 F wine conditioning unit, the winners include the KMDA 7676 BlackPerfection TwoInOne hob with integrated extractor fan and three gas hobs specially designed for the Chinese market (JZT-KM 3711 C; 3736 C; 3783 C). In addition, the two induction hobs KMDA 7876 FL and KM 7576 FL, which are equipped with an innovative matt black glass ceramic, also two promotional models for Miele's 125th anniversary received the prestigious award.

The iF Design Award is the most recognised German design prize and has been awarded annually for almost 70 years by iF International Forum Design GmbH - an independent design institution based in Hanover. This year, an international jury of 132 design experts from 20 different countries assessed over 10,000 applications from 72 countries. It judged products according to the criteria of idea, form, function, differentiation and impact. “We are delighted to have once again received this award, which visibly underlines our premium standards in terms of aesthetics and design,” explains Andreas Enslin, Vice President of the Miele Design Centre. “We have also received a great deal of positive feedback from our retail partners about the new appliances.”

Wine conditioning unit KWT 4999 F – an eye-catcher for discerning wine lovers

The free-standing wine conditioning unit KWT 4999 F with three temperature zones offers excellent conditions for wine storage. High-quality materials such as BlackSteel, glass and wood, finished to the highest quality, provide the perfect stage for wine. Light intensity, humidity and temperatures can be individually controlled via the control panel on the appliance door or a networked smart device. The visual highlight of the appliance is the SommelierSet: decanted wines can be stored and presented here, and glasses can be tempered. Opened bottles and accessories such as a corkscrew and chalk pen have their ideal place. In a further appliance variant, a PresenterFrame (adjustable storage rack) can be selected instead of the SommelierSet, which can be used to store even opened wines in an upright position. Features that also impressed the jury.

Induction hobs fulfil the jury's high demands

The KMDA 7876 FL 125 Gala Ed, an induction hob with an integrated extractor, also impressed the jury. It impresses with its elegant and purist design, which integrates perfectly into high-quality and minimalist kitchens with a flush-mounted extractor hood. The KM 7576 FL 125 Gala Ed induction hob without integrated extractor was also honoured – the discreet line design of the PowerFlex cooking zones was particularly impressive here. Both appliances feature Miele's new matt glass ceramic surface. The unique structure not only emphasises the purist design of the hobs but is also particularly scratch-resistant. For example, scratches caused by sand are reduced by 80 per cent. As a result, hobs with MattFinish glass ceramic retain their original, high-quality appearance for a long time. Another benefit of the textured surface with anti-fingerprint effect is that fingerprints are virtually invisible. And soiling after cooking can also be removed quickly and easily from the matt glass ceramic.

Both appliances are part of the “125 Gala Edition”, which offers special benefits in terms of features and accessories to mark Miele's 125th anniversary. In the built-in kitchen appliances segment, the promotion includes the ArtLine models in the elegant colour obsidian black matt, which were presented for the first time last year. The portfolio includes ovens, steam ovens (each for the 45 and 60 cm niches) and ovens with microwave. These appliances are complemented by built-in fully automatic coffee machines, hobs, warming and vacuum drawers, cooker hoods, a built-in wine unit, a free-standing fridge-freezer and front panelling for fully integrated dishwashers - all “handleless” variants from the current Miele range. In addition, all models in the 125 Gala Edition come with an exclusive 125-week extended warranty.

If customers are looking for a classic glossy glass ceramic hob with an all-black design, the award-winning KMDA 7676 BlackPerfection is the model for them. The black printing on the cooking zones and black struts on the flush cover grille in the centre of the glass ceramic make the hob look particularly clean and discreetly elegant. During operation, the displays are elegantly illuminated in white. Thanks to the highly efficient Silence motor, the hob is one of the quietest appliances on the market.

Chinese standards of performance combined with state-of-the-art technology and design

The high-quality gas hobs of the award-winning appliances JZT-KM 3711 C, JZT-KM 3736 C and JZT-KM 3783 C, which were specially developed for the Chinese market, impress with their powerful 5.2 kW wok burners. The design combines the classic look of Chinese hobs with European, understated design and high-quality materials. The arrangement of the hobs ensures user-friendly positioning of two wok pans next to each other.
