The company

Miele & Cie KG has been owned by the Miele (51 per cent) and the Zinkann (49 per cent) families since its foundation in 1899. The head office with central administration and parent plant is located in Gütersloh.

KG is jointly managed by six directors: Olaf Bartsch (Finance & Administration), Dr Stefan Breit (Technology), Dr Axel Kniehl (Marketing & Sales), Dr Markus Miele (Executive Director and Co-Proprietor), Rebecca Steinhage (Human Resources & Corporate Affairs) and Dr Reinhard Zinkann (Executive Director and Co-Proprietor).

Worldwide Miele employs around 22,700 people, of which 11,800 are in Germany. 

Business development

In the 2023 financial year which ended on December 31, the company achieved sales of € 4.96 bn. In Germany, turnover was € 1.23 bn.

Sustainability

For Miele sustainabilty is entrenched in the values and traditions of the company and is the absolute foundation for long-term corporate success. Miele is a member of the UN sustainability organisation Global Compact and signatory of the "Diversity Charter". Miele publishes a sustainability report every two years.

Founded in 1899 by Carl Miele and Reinhard Zinkann as a centrifuge factory, Miele initially became a well positioned supplier for agriculture, with product divisions such as dairy equipment, washing machines, bicycles and even automobiles. Today, the company's focus is on the claim to global leadership in quality and technology for household and commercial appliances.
