Superb performance in a compact size: the new Miele laboratory washer for demanding applications
-
Flexible circulation pump adapts to the process steps
-
Hygienic cleaning results and intensive cleaning even with short running times
Compact Miele laboratory washers with widths of 90 centimetres have been proving their worth in chemistry and biology laboratories for over ten years. Now, a new, high-performance machine is available that can be networked, that dries load items automatically and that reliably meets even challenging requirements, such as those found in research institutes, various kinds of laboratories and industry. The PLW 8636 model is the first from the ExpertLine series and – compared with the previous generation – features technical highlights that, until now, have been the preserve of much larger laboratory washers.
The circulation pump is the most powerful to be installed in machines of this size and adapts to the process steps in question: during the cleaning phases, higher pump speeds guarantee increased pump performance and intensive cleaning with short running times – ensuring that even stubborn soiling is reliably removed. In the rinse phases, by contrast, a low speed is often sufficient, yet still ensures the load items are fully wetted. A through-flow heater is being used to heat the process water for the first time. It is located outside the wash cabinet and is not integrated in the pump, meaning that hygiene in the wash cabinet is ensured even if high levels of soiling are present.
Up to four dispensing pumps that can be adjusted to the particular application and up to four flowmeters that can be calibrated also create the best conditions for achieving reproducible and hygienic results. Another new feature: The spray arms are equipped with nozzles on the top and bottom, enabling particularly uniform spray coverage when combined with the powerful pump.
Drying unit with high air throughput
With an air throughput that is 10 per cent higher than on the predecessor model, the new drying unit creates the best conditions for drying even narrow-lumened laboratory glassware, small measuring flasks or thin pipettes from the inside. An easy-to-access H14 HEPA filter positioned upstream effectively removes particles from the drying air.
The laboratory washer is simple and intuitive to use via a seven-inch colour display. The inclined interface means the display is easy to read. An industry-tested control system with a large memory provides space for 24 permanently installed programmes – such as for pipettes or pasteurising. Most programmes are available in two performance levels. For example, if double the normal amount of laboratory glassware needs to be cleaned, the Plus option can be used to significantly increase the performance of the selected programme. There are also a further 50 freely usable programme spaces that authorised laboratory staff can use to save their own new programmes as they wish.
Connection to the local network
The laboratory washer can be connected to a local network via an Ethernet connection. Process documentation can also be integrated – via Segosoft Miele Edition, for example. Other process documentation systems from third-party suppliers can also be incorporated using the IP profile. The benefit for customers is that the existing infrastructure can continue to be used, so the costs and effort involved remain manageable.
An ergonomic loading height of 80 centimetres makes the new, compact laboratory washer easy for laboratory staff to load and unload. With EasyLoad, a convenient range of accessories are available that ensure that load items are positioned automatically and securely. A separate drawer is provided for storing cleaning agents, such as those from the ProCare Lab series, which was developed specially for use in Miele laboratory washers.
