Miele stands for thorough yet gentle washing and drying – and for hygienic floor care without compromise. At its IFA press conference today, the world’s leading provider of premium domestic appliances launched its new top models for these product areas. The company also presented exclusive study results and pilot projects focusing on circularity – i.e. the reparability and reusability of appliances, components, and materials.
Miele is regarded as the epitome of thorough and gentle laundry care like no other manufacturer. At this year’s IFA, the Gütersloh-based domestic appliance company is now writing a new chapter in this success story – with the top models from a completely reimagined generation of washing machines and tumble dryers. At the core of the washing machine is the world’s first drum without drum ribs, which ensures even gentler care and longer lifetimes for delicate fabrics. Thanks to further optimised process technology, the W2 and T2 Nova Edition also offer shorter programme running times for smaller load sizes, increased flexibility during loading and much more besides. The market launch is planned for the first quarter of 2025.
The Complete C3 cylinder vacuum cleaner has won countless product tests and racked up sales of almost 11 million to become the best-selling Miele appliance of all time. Twelve years after its market launch, it is now time for Miele to bring a new generation of bagged cylinder vacuum cleaners to the market. The Guard L1, the new top model which is being presented for the first time at this IFA, takes everything to the next level: it is more convenient to use, more hygienic, more elegant – and networked. With this new model and its two other series (M1 and S1), Miele is completely reinventing itself in the field of bagged cylinder vacuum cleaners. The market launch will start, depending on country, in January 2025.
The ability to keep track of the energy consumption of the washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher at all times has made the Consumption Dashboard one of the most popular features in the Miele app*. Current data evaluations are now proving that the app is also helping to use the domestic appliances more sustainably. Further intelligent innovations from Miele at IFA include Smart Food ID, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to identify even more recipes and cooks them automatically in the oven. In addition, AI Diagnostics, an AI-based tool to troubleshoot appliance faults, is now live for washing machines and tumble dryers. And, for the first time, a practical app feature is available for classic cylinder vacuum cleaners.
Always thinking in circles, or: How can a premium domestic appliance be designed with the circular economy in mind? This question was the starting point for the design study of a circular vacuum cleaner that Miele will be presenting for the first time at IFA. The ‘Vooper’ study shows a cordless handstick with a fully modular design. Its comprehensive dismantling capability enables the valuable materials to be almost completely returned to the material cycle at the end of its life cycle. This and other projects show that Miele is working intensively on the principle of the circular economy and is continuously strengthening its commitment to the conversation of resources.
The future is circular. Miele is setting out and developing its first concepts for products in the circular economy. Questions & answers on circularity at Miele here.
"I am delighted to have the opportunity to speak to you in this symbolic year" - with these words, Dr Reinhard Zinkann welcomed around 150 journalists to the IFA kick-off in Berlin. The Managing Partner of the Miele Group presented an initial preview of the Gütersloh-based premium manufacturer's trade fair innovations and other focal topics. Product highlights include, in particular, the new 'Nova Edition' series of washing machines and dryers, which promises, for example, maximum protection of textiles.
