Greater convenience with Con@ctivity 2.0 and increased energy efficiency on extractor units and built-under canopies
Miele is set to upgrade its range of extractor units and built-under cooker hoods: All new units now boast clear improvements in energy efficiency, and several models additionally feature the Con@ctivity 2.0 automatic function.
Extractor units
This type of extractor has seen good growth for years and supports calls for the full integration of appliances in kitchens: On extractor units, only the air intake grille and the operating controls are visible while all technical components are hidden in a wall unit or canopy. Depending on the size of the hob unit below, extractor units are typically 50, 70, 80 or 110 cm wide. Miele offers all these sizes and equips its models with light-touch buttons (exception: the 50 cm wide unit has rotary selector switches). In most cases, though, these are not even required as all these models feature Con@ctivity 2.0. With this automatic function which Miele has had on offer since 2008, extraction is automatically adjusted to what is happening on the hob below, dispensing with the need to intervene manually. Currently, more than 60% of all Miele cooker hoods and hob units are fitted with Con@ctivity 2.0. This results in more than 2200 combinations of hoods and hobs.
Instead of halogen lighting, all models are now fitted with LED lighting and meet requirements for an A rating for energy efficiency. Other features include a 10-ply metal grease filter and Miele's CleanCover. The latter lines the area behind the grease filters to protect users from exposure to live components or sharp edges. Cleaning of these smooth surfaces, only seldomly required, is very convenient.
To cater for wall units with a reduced height which are enjoying increasing popularity in modern kitchens, Miele has added two further models to its range of extractor units for wall unit installation. The 60 and 90 cm wide units require a building-in depth of only 30 cm and correspond in terms of specifications to the extractor units presented above (exception: no Con@ctivity 2.0).
Built-under hoods
One characteristic of this type of unit is that it can be located below wall units or as a solitary wall-hung unit. The 60 and 100 cm wide Miele units are now to be equipped with LED downlights and will therefore be A-rated for energy efficiency. Built-under hoods are available in stainless steel and in white.
